Established in 1984 as an offshoot of the Aston University Health and Safety Department, Hastam is an independent company employing a multi-disciplinary team of health, safety and environmental specialists. The company's headquarters are in Essex but close links are maintained with the Aston University giving their clients unrivalled access to the latest research in health, safety and environmental management.

In addition to training and consultancy services, Hastam produces a number of off-the-shelf products designed to simplify health, safety and environmental management, including the widely used CHASE audit and evaluation systems. Hastam also has a successful audit system, CHASE which has been in use since 1988.
